JFS SETS NEW BAR WITH OUTSTANDING RECORD GCSE RESULTS

24/08/2017

Following last week’s outstanding ‘A’ Level results, JFS students have once again achieved exceptional outcomes with record results at GCSE.  92% of all entries were A*-C or 9-4.

98 students (over a third of the cohort) achieved A*/A grades (or equivalent) in 8 or more subjects and 52% of all grades were A*-A or 9-7.

Additionally in English 38 students received the top grade of 9 (13.5%) of grades, this was exceeded in Maths where 42 students achieved the top grade of 9 (15%), this as compared to the national benchmark of 2%.

Despite the more challenging nature of this year’s GCSE exams, students have performed extraordinarily well and results in almost all subjects are at, or above previous levels.  Although comparison of results with previous years is difficult, the 9-4 pass rate in English of 94% and in Maths of 92% are higher than last year’s A*-C figures which demonstrates  further improvement and an impressive set of outcomes that reflect the impact of enhanced interventions put in place by the school.

“The Governors of the School join us in congratulating all our students and their families on these outstanding results. Record GCSE results alongside record A Level results reflect the exceptional educational provision on offer at JFS and further cement our position as one of the leading non-selective schools in the country. We are deeply proud of our students and these impressive grades reflect the high degree of resilience, commitment and hard work by students and staff.  We commend them on their achievements and look forward to welcoming them and others to our outstanding Sixth Form in September”.
