Yom Hashoah was commemorated in school this week with a number of moving and informative activities for all Year Groups. The activities ranged from assemblies to workshops and inter department collaborative events, with guest speakers and presenters. The day was one of revelation and inspiration for both staff and students. In an age which has recently seen an increased wave of anti-Semitism throughout Europe, it was all the more important to re-explore the atrocities of the Holocaust and the need to pass on the baton to the future generation.

JFS has been nationally recognised for its exceptional 2015 performance by the Schools, Students and Teachers network (SSAT). Educational Outcomes data analysis from SSAT has shown that the school is in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally for high average grades achieved by students and the top 20% nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage 2 results at primary school and their key stage 4 results.

The JFS Senior Boys Football team were victorious in the Brent Cup Final just before we broke up for the Pesach holidays. JFS dominated the match and the 3 – 2 score line did not reflect the number of chances created. Jack led the team impressively, as he has done all season, and Kalvin  was named ‘Man of the Match’ by the Preston Manor manager. Goals from Nyv  and Jack (x 2) mean the 1st XI bring home silverware for the second time in two years.

We would like to thank all those who joined the PTA Supper Quiz on Sunday evening. The event was a great success, attended by over 250 people raising several thousands of pounds for the School.

Well done to the committee and quiz master for their hard work and particularly Mrs Diana Bronson who will be stepping down as PTA Chair after several years of dedicated service to the School. We would also like to thank Diana's talented son who made the flower centre pieces out of balloons.

A group of about 30 JFS Alumni, in their late 80s and 90s, attended the Bell Lane reunion at JFS. Together with younger family members, they enjoyed a wonderful afternoon cream tea complete with sandwiches and scones. JFS Alumnus, Dennis Hart, gave a taster talk on his exciting career as a photographer and JFS GCSE music students ably entertained the crowd with old and current songs, culminating in spontaneous dancing. The Alumni enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect and share their experiences of JFS with family and friends.
