Labour Market Information (LMI)

At JFS, we aim to provide careers support which will inform students’ choices at each key stage. It is important that all students are fully supported and guided through the process of planning their futures. We offer an extensive programme at each year, providing insight into careers and vocations available, as well support needed for students enquiring of post-18 pathways in employment and apprenticeships. Almost all of our students go to university, with a many enrolling into Russell Group universities. At JFS, we provide our pupils with support to develop the knowledge and skills to understand themselves, research available opportunities, make decisions, and successfully move to the next stage in their education. The programme is delivered through PSHCE, special events and enrichment programmes, trips and visits, assemblies, curriculum lessons and form time.

The careers department has signed up to a number of virtual services including Unifrog and Morrisby Testing, allowing pupils to research more about career choices of interest, university courses and universities across the world. We also review students’ subject choices and career intentions, mapping these continuously through each pupils’ school journey.

JFS staff work together to implement the new careers strategies through the eight Gatsby benchmarks:

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

Careers Programme Information Years 8 to 13

The impact of the careers programme on pupils, will be assessed and measured by:

  1. Surveys
  2. Destinations data
  3. Interviews/reports
  4. Communications
  5. Feedback forms

The next review of the information published will be in September 2022.
