Sixth Form students at JFS

Sixth Form Careers

Post-16 guidance

Support for ambitious next steps

Sixth Form students receive practical, specialist guidance for competitive university routes, medicine and dentistry applications, and higher and degree apprenticeships.

Application pathways

Preparation that is personal, practical and early

Students are supported by subject specialists, external advisers and JFS alumni who understand the demands of competitive applications.

Early Applications

Our early applicants follow a proven successful programme to prepare them for making an early application. We draw on experts from OA schools, alumni and subject leaders to ensure students have the information they need and are well prepared. Should students get to the interview stage, they are matched with successful alumni and undertake robust mock interviews with subject specialists in school. This year, we will also run critical thinking sessions to aid interview preparation. We are very proud of our success with early applications and encourage interested students to attend the launch in February.

Medic Mentoring Programme

This year we launched our Mentor Programme for Medicine, Vet Med and Dentistry applicants. Every applicant is matched with a member of our JFS Medical alumni, many of whom are Oxbridge medicine alumni. Students meet with mentors to discuss UCAT, personal statements, work experience and interviews. Alumni also come into school to present to students and assist with applications. With nine successful applicants this year, we hope to continue improving on these impressive numbers.

Ofsted 2022

Students can speak to our external Careers Adviser, Disha Dansingani, or Mrs Sara Levick, our Post-16 Manager, about apprenticeships throughout their time in the Sixth Form.
