Transport to JFS

JFS HAS SIGNED A GREEN TRAVEL PLAN WITH THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BRENT

This encourages students to walk, cycle or use trains and buses to come to School. No JFS student is permitted to enter the site in a car other than JFS students who are disabled or are travelling in a car with a younger sibling from Sinai. For the sake of our neighbours and the environment we strongly discourage the use of cars by or for students to travel to JFS.

FREE TRAVEL ON TRANSPORT FOR LONDON (TfL) BUSES

All students are entitled to travel free on all Transport for London buses inside London boroughs and many bus routes that start in the surrounding counties. Eligible routes are those that accept Oyster Cards. Students should apply for a Zip Oyster Card via the Transport for London website. There is an administration charge upon registration. This free travel comes alongside a good behaviour scheme that JFS supports. You can apply online by clicking here

HERTFORDSHIRE STUDENTS

Buses serve the School from Radlett, Borehamwood and Elstree (B77) routes. These routes are administered directly by the commercial operator, Sullivan Buses and parents must pay for this service. For full details of Sullivan’s bus routes, please click here. The 107, 292 and 614 from Borehamwood, the 142 from Bushey and the 324 from Stanmore are free to students subject to them having a Zip Oystercard.

TRAVEL PASSES FOR STUDENTS NOT LIVING IN LONDON OR HERTFORDSHIRE

Some Local Authorities continue to provide free travel for students attending the nearest denominational school if it is more than 3 miles from their home. Parents would have to make enquiries from their local authority office about eligibility.

BUSES AND TRAINS TO JFS

Large numbers of JFS students living in Stanmore, Edgware, Pinner and destinations closer into the centre of London access the School via the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines.

Many students living in Edgware use the 79 and/or the 688 bus.

Many students living in Hendon and Golders Green use the 183 and/or the 683 bus.

Inclement Weather

Parents should assume that school is always open unless told otherwise. JFS tries to stay open unless extreme weather, for Health and Safety reasons, makes this impossible. In the event that there is any news to relay relating to the School being open, you will find this on our web-site home page, on our Facebook page and our Twitter Feed.

Parents should please ensure that students are prepared for bad weather that does not force the closure of the School. It is important that all students are equipped for travel to and from school in the event of high winds and heavy rain. Please do have a discussion with your child about what they should do in the event of transport difficulties, if possible ensuring that they are aware of alternative routes in the event of their primary transport route being unavailable.
