The Jewish Dimension

The Jewish Dimension of the School is a key element of the JFS Sixth Form experience.

All students attend Jewish Studies lessons and partake in a programme that has been specifically created to be exciting, relevant, thought provoking and highly enjoyable. The General Jewish Studies option involves a number of courses that will address issues ranging from Relationships and Medical Ethics to Self-Esteem and step-by-step guides to Jewish living. For those who prefer, we also have the “text” option, a chance to develop skills in a more advanced study of Hebrew texts. All these take place over 4 lessons per fortnight and are part of the compulsory study programme at JFS.

Campus Preparation is another major theme in our programme. This incorporates “UCAS the Jewish way” and a “Jewish Life on Campus” Seminar. Students will explore topics like Israel in the media, the two state solution as well as Israel representation to Jews and non-Jews”.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in the range of informal activities, which include seminars, overseas trips to Poland and the Ukraine, and Shabbatonim (weekends away). There are also Lunch and Learn programmes as well as Leadership training opportunities and Social Action projects.
