This week, the Politics Society welcomed another illustrious politician, Lord Michael Howard, former leader of the Conservative Party, to address our Sixth Form students during lunchtime. After his address, our students grilled him on questions as diverse as Brexit, Human Rights and Democracy and gave us all thought-provoking ideas in his responses. He also gave us his insights into what he feels about the modern political landscape and the role of the media and candidly even declared, “I would not make it as a modern-day politician.” All in all, it was a fascinating and excellent event and comes hot on the heels of Lord Ashdown, who visited us last week, and Baroness Smeeth who spoke to students last half term.
