A Conversation With Lord Mann

A Conversation With Lord Mann

Lord Mann, the Government’s independent anti-Semitism advisor, spoke to our Year 12 cohort in their assembly this week.  He explained how his job works and what he sees as his three-fold aim, explaining our position against those in our community in Europe.

It was clear, even virtually that our students were gripped, and the calibre of questions supported that focus.  Our Deputy Head Boy, Daniel Grossman, opened the questions asking about, “What did you make of Angela Rayner’s tweet the other day that conveniently forgot us as an ethnic minority, and the subsequent BBC debate?”  this was followed by Brandon Roach asking, “Are you concerned that Sheffield United as a Premier League club rejected the IHRA definition?” Lord Mann replied with a ‘class answer’ about how all Premier League teams would be part of IHRA as Sheffield were almost certain to be relegated!

More questions followed about political and sporting figures and how his work has been affected by their actions.  Lord Mann is looking to be a permanent fixture on the JFS guest rostrum, and we cannot wait to welcome him physically, in the next academic year.
