AJEX Parade

AJEX Parade

Last Sunday, approximately 100 JFS students, our Headteacher Mrs Fink, staff, family members and alumni represented the school at the annual AJEX (Jewish Military Association) Remembrance Ceremony and Parade at the Cenotaph. The JFS contingent was once again one of the largest, and stood out with blue banners that bore the names of JFS alumni who fought in the First World War.

The service and parade commemorates Jewish members of the armed forces who have fought for Britain. It was first held following the First World War as a display of loyalty from the Anglo-Jewish community. It is the only annual remembrance parade held at the Cenotaph for a particular faith.

Students who attended found it a moving service and made a strong impression on the official party who chose to inspect the JFS group first.

Our thanks go to Mrs Fox for her crucial role in the continuing relationship between AJEX and JFS, to Mr Law for creating the banners and to all who supported on the day.
