Jesse Shapiro in Year 8 and 43 Bat and Bar Mitzvah Children, together with 43 adults and a number of volunteers set off from Mill Hill in North West London on the Bnei Mitzvah Charity Challenge weekend to the Lake District and arrived at their first destination after a six-hour bus journey.
Their mission was to climb ‘Seat Sandal’, a peak reaching 736 meters at its highest point. This hike was challenging yet enjoyable and took around four and a half hours. They were then transported to their youth hostel in Ambleside, where they enjoyed refreshing showers, clean clothes, and a magnificent Friday night dinner, followed by a leisurely Shabbat together.
On Sunday, they embarked on a much more challenging hike lasting seven hours, featuring lots of scrambling and hills, along Striding Edge and Swirral Edge. Not only did all the children and adults complete this amazing challenge, but they also raised £77,000 for various charities.
