Iyun students in 9AB had the opportunity to hear Mrs Devorah Kay address them on the topic of the relevance of Israel today. This was an interactive session, where students were engaged with texts from the Torah and other Jewish sources, interweaved with the tragic yet highly moving story of her son Eli Kay who was sadly killed two years ago by a terrorist in Jerusalem.
Devorah showed how Eli had inspired so many people throughout his short life and beyond and the incredible lessons we can learn from him. Students were moved by her incredible story and great strength of character, taking a terrible tragedy and promoting tolerance and kindness instead of hatred and anger. Devorah was very impressed by the maturity and perceptive questions our students asked her and they were blown away by her inspirational responses. This was a talk the students will certainly remember for a very long time.
