The District Final of the Boys Year 8 Cricket Cup got off to a flying start with wickets coming in quick succession and JFS pinning Kingsbury down to a paltry 43-5 after 10 overs. Unfortunately, tough conditions and a deteriorating wicket meant Kingsbury could dig their heels in and then pick up the pace, reaching a respectable 111-10 at the end of their innings.

With just under six an over needed to secure victory we got off to a wobbly start, with wickets falling in quick succession before Gabriel Bohm hit another significant score (32), steadying the ship and putting a win in our sights. However, with wickets falling around him and a moments lapse in concentration, our captain fantastics’ wicket was taken and the batting line up collapsed in short order.

The title wasn’t to be ours today, even though the teams unbeaten form throughout the season meant we really did deserve it; even beating KHS on our way to the final! But alas, such is the beauty of sport. The boys can look back proudly on a stupendous season with so many great highlights!

Now it’s time to spend the off season honing their fitness and skills ready to challenge for next seasons title!
