Cycling Ambitions

Jonah and Rafi Marks in Years 10 and 8 spent time in the summer taking part in various cycling events with their father.

Jonah has recently started taking part in cycling Time Trials, as the most socially-distanced racing possible. He took part in his cycling club’s 10mile/16km TT and finished it in 27:53, only 10 seconds behind a member of Team LDN, a really good racing team. He was the youngest competitor by about 10 years! This was followed by his first-ever 25mile/40km TT, finishing in 1 hour 9 minutes. He was the youngest competitor again, in fact the only one in his age category!

The following week, Rafi and his father, together with a friend and her daughter, took part in a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Challenge. Initially they were to ride from London to Paris (276km, 1500m climbing), but due to Covid-19 restrictions, they rode from London to Oxford to Bletchley to Cambridge to London (323km, 2094m climbing).

Well done to all three and definitely achievements worth celebrating.
