Geographers’ Urban Area Study

Geographers’ Urban Area Study

Year 11 Geography students attended a field trip to Stratford in East London recently. They were completing field work to investigate how quality of life varies in urban areas and starting to understand why.

The trip was led by the ‘Field Studies Centre’ from Epping who did an excellent job at guiding us around the Olympic site and surrounding residential areas of East Village and Carpenter’s Estate as well as teaching us a range of different urban field work skills. We will continue to explore the underlying themes in lessons including the impact of large scale regeneration schemes such as those in Stratford. We will also spend lessons assessing to what extent the range of regeneration projects in the area have benefited those who have lived in the area for a long time and the impact on newcomers.
