This week the JFS Politics Society hosted Shadow Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson MP, a Question and Answer session. There was a very healthy turnout of over 50 students who had the floor to ask questions on a range of topics, from mental health provision in schools, tuition fees, free speech, British values, Labour’s anti- Semitism, trust in politicians, private schools and even the exam process. Ms Phillipson deftly rose to the challenge and answered all the questions with careful consideration and sincerity. She was a model of an exceptionally capable politician and we are honoured that she took the time to come to meet with us.
Of her day here she said the students were, “Incredible” and had really come up with a range of challenging questions but she found it particularly special to speak to some students who waited to speak to her after the session and offer her their personal thoughts and questions.
Many thanks to Lord Levy who helped facilitate this visit and to all those involved in ensuring it went smoothly.
