Sixth Form Overview

ABOUT THE SIXTH FORM

Graded as ‘Good’ by OFSTED in May 2022, the Sixth Form at JFS is a vibrant place for students to excel,
achieving beyond their individual potential. Within a self-contained annex of the school, it has specialist
facilities that support all students in achieving outstanding outcomes across all subjects.

We have a recipe for success which has been tried and tested over a number of years, and which has seen us
achieve not only fantastic results, but has also seen us graded in the top 1% of Sixth Forms across the
country for the progress students make with us. Student success at all levels is celebrated equally and it
is worth noting that the students who enter the Sixth Form at JFS School with six level 6 grades at GCSE
(for A level courses) or six level 4 grades at GCSE (for vocational courses) are those who go on to make
the greatest progress.

The Sixth Form at JFS offers a variety of pathways for students depending on their GCSE performance
and/or their intended career choice. As with all other Sixth Forms, pathways and subjects will only be
available if there is sufficient uptake.

Whether you are wishing to pursue a career in medicine or law, want to be an actor or artist, or wish to pursue sport and science, we have the expertise, facilities and knowledge to help you. We will also encourage you to get fully involved in the life of the Sixth Form, by taking on key leadership positions or taking part in our tours and trips.

Sixth Form students play a unique and valuable role in the school, contributing actively to the wider life of the school community. They arrange and run events with younger students, demonstrating tremendous leadership and motivation.

Our Sixth Form offers a studious environment. All students are taught to learn independently, to act responsibly and to demonstrate leadership, respect, care and commitment. Sixth Form students gain hugely from leading and guiding younger students and our younger students gain from what they receive from exceptional role models. The opportunity to give, as well as to receive, is fundamental to the community atmosphere of the School.

The dedicated Sixth Form Centre is a stunning facility with study areas, Art Studios, Photography Laboratory/Dark Room, a specialist Media Studio and its own dedicated Mezzanine cafeteria. The Sixth Form regularly plays host to a range of distinguished speakers allowing students to explore and debate the key issues of the day.
