JFS Sixth Form students recently had the pleasure of listening to a talk by Economist Jonathan Haskel CBE.
A professor of economics at Imperial College London and a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, Haskel discussed the role of the central bank and the state of the British economy amidst the pandemic. Afterwards, the students were given the opportunity to ask the professor questions. These ranged from ways of measuring interest rates, to his committee’s response to the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus. Having first-hand experience dealing with such issues, Professor Haskel answered these questions generously in great detail.
We would like to thank Jonathan Haskel for taking the time to speak to our students, Dylan Stephens for the introduction and Miss Thumim for organising it.
