Farewell To Year 13

Farewell To Year 13

The last couple of weeks have been a time of reflection, celebrations and saying goodbyes. Alongside Yom Ha Zikaron and Yom Ha’Atzmaut, we also said our farewell to Year 11 (see last week’s newsletter) finally to Year 13. For Year 13, it is the culmination of seven years of secondary school and the rhythm of school life which has shaped those years has almost reached its conclusion. It is a bitter-sweet moment, for staff and students. On the one hand, it is clear that there is a readiness, even excitement, at branching out into the wider world; it is still moving to see 270 students leave school, on the bell, one last time. We hope, however, that they enjoyed their ‘send-off’.

The morning started with farewell speeches from Mrs Fink and Dr Walton, who provided appropriate words of wisdom and advice. The Head Boy and Head Girl team gave a generous and heart-felt vote of thanks to all their teachers and form tutors who have ushered them to this point, and the formal part of the event concluded with a good-natured and witty video that captured the spirit of the year group. In the afternoon, the sun shone ever so brightly for the Year 13 goodbye barbecue. It provided a lovely opportunity for staff and students to mingle and to wish students well in their exams and all their future endeavours.
