Every year the Ivrit department holds its Ivrit Shuk – Israeli Market experience for Year 7. Students have to make objects to sell that relate to the topics they have been learning. Armed with a shopping list, they have to buy (using all their bargaining skills) all the designated objects. The one condition is that all communication is to be in Ivrit. With the ‘mishtara’ (police) roaming, anyone caught speaking English is fined. The winning team are those who have made the most from their wares and have successfully bargained to gain the shopping list for the least amount of money. As always, great fun was had by all.
